LAUNCH OF NEW LABEL, LOVE & WAR RECORDS, TO FOCUS ON BOTH UP-AND-COMING AND ESTABLISHED METAL TALENT
It’s not very often that three long-time friends get a chance to launch a record label together, but that’s exactly what Phil Sadler, Charlie Bagarozza, andSteve Blaze have done, with the creation of Love & War Records. And with such a strong link to metal veteran act Lillian Axe (Blaze is the lead guitarist/founding member of the band, while Sadler promoted the group’s shows in the Midwest area), it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the label’s first-ever release will be the group’s tenth album overall, ‘Deep Red Shadows.’ The album - produced by Blaze and mastered by Ty Tabor of King’s X - promises to be another kick ass entry into the group’s catalog, and will be released on July 20, 2010.
Love & War Records will accept solicited and unsolicited materials from artists. Submissions should contain at least a 3 song demo CD, optional DVD of the band performing live, current band photo, current band bio and any info on live shows you have played. All submissions will become the property of Love & War Records.
The official titles for the three label founders will be “Owner and CEO” for Sadler, “President/Head of A&R/Talent Relations” for Bagarozza, and “Producer/A&R” for Blaze. "After having 6 label deals, including major and indie labels, it was time to become a part of a family that could learn from the errors and strengths of our past situations,” says Blaze. “We want to surround ourselves with a great team to guide our artists and great artists who care about the wonderful art of hard rock and metal music."

PROG-METALLISTS BUSHWHACK STRIKE BACK WITH NEW E.P RELEASE ‘CANVAS’ DUE MAY 18TH 2010
The last we heard from Bushwhack, it was all about “the instrumental,” as not a single vocal was spotted throughout their 2007 self-titled debut. But on their latest release, the four-song EP, ‘Canvas,’ the lads have indeed opted to broaden their musical horizons and take “the vocal plunge.” The New Haven, CT group - comprised of Frank Sacramone (keyboards), Sean McCusker (bass), Jamie van Dyck (guitars/vocals), and Ben Shanbrom (lead vocals/drums) - have also toughened up their sound considerably, and focused their sound more towards the harder side of things.
“With the EP being as short as it is, we just wanted to present four songs that we had written since our debut album that showed our new direction, with the order not mattering as much, as the four songs are all very different,” explains Jamie. “The EP feels more song-oriented and less album-oriented, which likely comes from the length of the EP as well as the presence of vocals. Each song on the EP showcases a unique and specific side of Bushwhack, which is intentional as we only had three original songs and one cover song to show everything we had. I think because of that, the songs are more accessible, and every track on the EP is strong, while our debut may have had one or two songs that in retrospect might have been better left off the album.”
And since the release is comprised of a quartet of songs, Bushwhack made sure each song has the power and drive to stand on its own. “I really liked how ‘Morning’ and ‘Clubbed to Death’ turned out,” says Frank. “‘Morning’ has so much harmonic complexity, along with having a thick layer of acoustic andelectric guitar tracks. And even through all that, it really gets stuck in my head. ‘Clubbed to Death’ sounds epic, I hope we made Rob D proud.” Another standout is “Flawed,” which also happens to be one of Sean’s favorites. “It is our heaviest song but also has some of the prettiest piano lines mixed in. It is also really fun to play, it just grooves.”
With vocals now doing battle with all the heaviness and complexity, ‘Canvas’ undoubtedly will expand Bushwhack’s fanbase even further. But it turns out that although Ben did a fine job handling vocal duties on the release, he would like to return to solely focusing on his drumming duties. “Our most immediate concern is getting a lead vocalist. It is just too much stress for me to handle hitting all the high notes, screaming, and banging out all of my nonsense beats. Jamie and I plan to keep some of our vocal duties in this band, but to perform at our best we would like to focus on our instruments and find a stable lead singer. From there, we'd like to start playing out more consistently, possibly tour, and create the sophomore album of our dreams.”

TRIUMPH’S MAJESTIC ARENA ANTHEMS CELEBRATED ON NEW CD/DVD SET, ‘GREATEST HITS: REMIXED’
Few acts could whip an arena full of rockers into a frenzy as Triumph did throughout the late ‘70s and ‘80s, when the group’s best known line-up – guitarist/vocalist Rik Emmett, bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine, and drummer/vocalist Gil Moore - were at the peak of their powers. And it’s this exact time period that is focused on throughout Triumph’s new “best of” set - ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed’ - which will be released on May 18, 2010.
All of the classic tunes that were - and continue to be - in heavy rotation on rock radio (and the early days of MTV) are included here, namely, “Lay it on the Line,” “Hold On,” “Fight the Good Fight,” “Magic Power,” etc.
These fourteen tracks of anthemic metal have never sounded so good, as they were all recently remixed by Rich Chycki (who has previously worked withAerosmith and Rush). The set also includes a previously unreleased recording - “Love Hurts” - which will be the lead-off single from Triumph’s ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed.’
"We have been planning this release forever," says Levine. "For years, Triumph fans have been demanding that we give them a fresh greatest hits package and they are going to love this one."
Also included in the set is a DVD mixed in 5.1 audio, that features eleven promo and live videos in widescreen (plus additional unreleased videos for “Child of the City,” “Blinding Light Show,” and “Love Hurts,” and footage of the group’s 2008 induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame).
The deluxe two-disc package will be housed in a six-panel digipak – including a 20-page color booklet, complete with liner notes, lyrics, and chockfull of vintage photos.
Whether you’re a long-time Triumph fanatic or a new convert, you have never heard the group as crystal clear and loud n’ proud as you will throughout ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed.’ "’Greatest Hits: Remixed’ rocks like no other Triumph set,” declares Moore. “This is the definitive Triumph collector’s edition."
Track listing for ‘Greatest Hits: Remixed’ CD:
1. Allied Forces 2. Lay it on the Line 3. Follow Your Heart 4. Magic Power 5. I Live For the Weekend 6. Hold On 7. Just One Night 8. Fight the Good Fight 9. Spellbound 10. Never Surrender 11. When the Lights Go Down 12. Somebody’s Out There 13. Rock and Roll Machine 14. Love Hurts
